Obituary of William V. Adams

William V. Adams, 92, of 1029 West Bucknell Ave. Inverness, FL, formerly of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016, in the Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, FL. A Florida resident for over 25 years, he was born January 9, 1924 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late George H. and Clara Delforce Adams. Following his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving from March 2, 1943 to January 13, 1946, during World War II. After the war, while living in Jamestown, he was employed as a manager of the former Loblaws and Super Duper Market and later in life worked as a carpenter for the former Ed Rohmer Contracting. Bill was an avid cyclist, riding six days a week on the bike trail near his home, until he was well into his 80's. He was also a member of the Studebaker Driver's Club, owning a 1964 Studebaker Hawk that he took to many Studebaker meets and antique car shows. Surviving is a daughter, Shirley J. Adams (Steven Yarnell) of Windermere, FL, two grandchildren, Karin Sipe (Adam) of Pittsburgh, PA, Drew Yarnell, a student at the College of Charleston, a brother, George M. Adams of California and a sister, Vivian G. Schauers of Jamestown. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife the former Dorothy M. Roth Adams whom he married August 22, 1947 and who died April 6, 1970. The funeral will be held at Noon Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Mr. Peter Dawson of Lakewood, NY will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11:00 to 12:00 pm, one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
