Obituary of Benjamin C. Goon

Benjamin C. Goon, 28, of 1479 Warren-Jamestown Blvd, Jamestown, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at UPMC Hamot in Erie following a sudden illness. A Jamestown native, he was born April 13, 1988, a son of Michael L. and Tambria Arzner Goon. Ben attended Levant Christian School through 9th grade and was a 2007 graduate of Jamestown High School. He then graduated from the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute in 2009. Ben had been employed as a chef and cook by several area restaurants. He enjoyed travel as well as helping others and had participated in five mission trips, traveling to Guatemala, Costa Rica and to the Gulf Coast following hurricane Katrina. In addition to his parents of Jamestown, surviving is a brother, Daniel (Veronica) Goon and a niece, Emma Goon, all of Brandon, Fla.; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Arzner of Jamestown and Clearwater, Fla. and paternal grandmother, Edith Goon of Jamestown; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Keith Arzner and paternal grandfather, Thomas Goon, Sr. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor David Bush of the Siloam Fellowship and Pastor Al Myers of Levant Wesleyan Church will both officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Allegany Regional Missions, P.O. Box 294, Randolph, NY 14772.
