Tim was our next door neighbor on Arlington Ave. How well I remember when he was born. Within the last few weeks my siblings and I were watching old home movies, and smiled broadly as we saw ourselves swimming at the Quackenbush pool with Timmy and his brother, Caesar. We asked each other what our old friend might be up to and realized we'd all lost track. We are sad to know he had cancer, and send our sincere sympathies to his loved ones.

While memories live forever, the idea of your passing seems impossible. I've never met a man who fought harder or loved more deeply than you, Tim. For those of us who had the opportunity to see the man behind that tough exterior and cute, quirky smile, there was much to admire. Over the years I saw amazing strength, steely determination, compassion and understanding in you. You held our family up when we hurt the most. You made us laugh, you saw beyond the stigma of disabilities and you stuck. Nothing scared you away and nothing made you forget. You had unyielding ideas about what was right. You drove us nuts on more than one occasion! You won impossible battles, most admirably your battle for sobriety. It's my feeling that winning that battle was so much more commendable than never having to have fought that fight.
There is a saying that if your dog doesn't trust someone, perhaps you shouldn't either. Dogs loved you, cats loved you, kids loved you. We love you.
You will be missed, Tim. But you will not be forgotten. RIP till we meet again, kiddo.

I lived across the street from the Quackenbush's - I have very fond memories of the family. I babysat Tim and his brother John. Our parents were best friends and they got together every Thursday evening - they called themselves "The Bish n Bush Club" Tim and I connected on face book and I shared many memories of him as a child. I am so sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
