Obituary of Barbara F. Schwartz

Barbara F. Schwartz, 79, of 25 Merz Ave Bemus Point, passed away Saturday November 12, 2016 in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was born October 21, 1937 in Portland, NY the daughter of the late George Winston and Dorothy Vanderveld Fuller. She was a graduate of SUNY Cortland Teachers College. Prior to retirement, she was an Elementary Teacher in the Jamestown Public School System. Barbara was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, and formerly of St. Timothy Lutheran; Always involved in various Art and Book Clubs; and she was an avid gardener. Barbara will be remembered as a very gracious and loving woman, a cancer survivor that loved the church, always cared for and gave back to her community. Surviving are her three children: Karen Schwartz of Ellicottville; Kurt Schwartz of Bemus Point; Karl (Lisa) Schwartz of Ellicottville; three grandchildren: Jessica, Julia, and Samuel Schwartz; three great grandchildren: Emma, Grant, and Mia; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings: George, Donald, and Karen. A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church. Pastor Bob Benson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 3012 Route 430, Bemus Point, NY 14712; or to the Alzheimer Foundation, or American Cancer Society.
