Obituary of Alvin L. Hendrickson, Sr.

Alvin Leroy Hendrickson, Sr., 75, of 2992 Carpenter-Pringle Road, Ashville, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016 in his home with family by his side. He was born September 12, 1941 in Jamestown, a son of the late Paul and Mae Hodges Hendrickson, and attended Panama Central School. Al was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Army from 1968 to 1970. He formerly worked for Jamestown Sterling and was later self-employed doing construction and carpentry work. He was a member of the Herman Kent American Legion Post and the Jamestown Vietnam Veteran Association. Al's interests included woodworking, antiques, flowers and his clown collection. He is survived by his caregiver during his illness and wife of 26 years, Lelah Rogers Hendrickson; three daughters: Terry (John) Long of Jamestown, Brenda (Bob) Lundgren of Frewsburg and Sheri Hendrickson of Jamestown; three step-daughters: Sheila Walters of Jamestown, Julie (Jim) Howard of Panama and Connie (Pete) Marucci of Jamestown; and many grand- and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Lillian Hendrickson of Lakewood as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dale Leroy Hendrickson and Alvin Leroy Hendrickson, Jr.; a sister, Betty Jane Olson; and two brothers, Paul and Georgie "Bob" Hendrickson. At Al's request, no funeral service will be observed. His family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, with military honors to be held at 6 p.m. Monday following visitation in the funeral home.
