Obituary of Annie M. Grissom

Annie M. Grissom, 96, of 46 W. 11th Street, died Thursday December 8, 2016, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born in Anawalt, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Herbert and Savannah B. (Felton) Leeper, Sr. She worked as a self-employed housekeeper and hairdresser for many years. She was a member of North Main Street Church of God. She enjoyed playing bingo and card games. She was an amazing cook and she made the best pound cake and "hot rolls" in the city. Everyone enjoyed her rolls and said they were to die for. She was known to entertain her friends and family. She will be missed by her neighbors of over 30 years. Their relationship was very unique as they always watched out for each other. Surviving are four children Shirley (William) White, Sandra Crawford and Michael (Donna) Grissom all of Jamestown and Timothy Grissom of Atlanta, GA; 23 grandchildren including Ivy Ann Grissom who she considered as her own child because she raised Ivy since birth; 41 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; two sisters Mildred Cunningham of Denver, CO and Eileen Coulter of Jamestown and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Cleveland Grissom whom she married in Cambridge, OH and who died March 9, 2001; two sisters Mabel (Leeper) Ferguson and Thelma Jean (Leeper) Davis and five brothers Raymond A., William Earl, Herbert W., Calvin H. and Elbert L. Leeper. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
