Obituary of Ernest E. Ziebart
Ernest E. Ziebart, 70, of 18 Brookside Estates Drive, Jamestown, died unexpectedly Wednesday December 28, 2016, in UPMC Chautauqua WCA.
He was born October 21, 1946, in South Bend, IN, a son of the late Wilbur and Eunice Besse Ziebart.
A veteran of the US Army, he served from 1967-69 during the Vietnam War earning a Purple Heart for wounds received, Air Medal Meritorious and Army Commendation medal. He was very proud of his service to our country and shared many stories of the bravery and situations him and many others experienced during this time in his life. He was a member of Randolph Post of the American Legion.
He was employed by Hope Windows as a draftsman for 27 years and regrettably was unable to return to work after suffering a stroke which left him visually impaired. Prior to his illness he loved riding his Gold Wing motorcycle and cried the day he had to sell it.
For the past 19 years he provided a stable, loving home for himself and his wife, who was his best friend. They enjoyed dining out, traveling back and forth to Florida, listening to country music and spending time with family. Anyone who knew Ernie knew he was a man who spoke his mind, would make you laugh with his quick wit and humor, and was a caring, thoughtful person doing good deeds for others in need. He will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his wife Barbara Cooper Ziebart, whom he married July 27, 1997; two children William Ziebart and Kimberly Ziebart, both of Jamestown; five stepchildren Lori (Joe) Marino and Mike (Judy) Warner both of Florida, David (Robyn) Warner and Kevin (Patty) Warner both of Jamestown and Jeffrey (Janel) Warner of Gerry; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a brother David (Kathy) Ziebart of Panama.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Joey Ziebart.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
