Obituary of Ruth M. Crisafulli

Ruth M. Crisafulli, 79, of 127 South Hanford Ave., W.E. passed away at 8:05 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2017, in her home where she raised her family and lived for 48 years. She was born October 10, 1937 in Franklinville, NY, the youngest daughter of the late Walter and Mildred Houghton - Harsen. After sending her four children off to school, Ruth started her Thirty year career as Manager for the Jamestown division of National Fire Adjustment retiring in 2004. Ruth was an active communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lakewood for over forty years and was a past president of the Altar and Rosary Society where she also taught religious education for several years. She was a member for over thirty years at The Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and a former auxiliary president. Ruth was also a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion Auxiliary and was active many years with the Girl Scouts of America She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth had a witty sense of humor, endless energy, beautiful smile, classy style, and she loved to dance, cook for her family, baking goodies with her granddaughter Allabelle, she loved celebrating all occasions that brought her family together. Ruth was extremely intelligent graduating high school before the age of 16. She was fearless and brave and she lived life to the fullest. She was an amazing mother, wife and friend. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Nicholas A. Crisafulli whom she married August 23, 1958, her four children, Deborah L. Cowan of Corning, NY, David A. Crisafulli of Lakewood, NY, Daniel E. Crisafulli of Minn. MN, Danette M. Crisafulli-Schenk of Jamestown, seven grandchildren, Jeremy Cowan, Sean Cowan, Andrew Cowan, Matthew Crisafulli, Cory Crisafulli, Nicholas C. Crisafulli-Schenk, Allabelle Robert all of Jamestown, four great grandchildren, Karlee Campbell of Frewsburg, NY, Juilianna Cowan, Annah Cowan, Mason Cowan all of Jamestown and her three sisters, Irene Gregg of Tallahassee, FL, Margaret Langworthy, Corinne Hall both of Lakewood, NY. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her brother, Leo Harsen, who passed away within hours of Ruth's passing on Monday and her grandson Nolan Crisafulli who passed away January 10, 1995 and a sister Marjorie Johnson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood, NY. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
