Obituary of Bryant G. Anderson

Bryant G. "Buster" Anderson, 87, of Greenhurst Village, formerly 94 Eagle St., died Monday, January 30, 2017 at Absolut of Westfield. He was the husband of the late Joyce Mae Anderson whom he married December 16, 1950 and who died January 15, 2014. A Jamestown native, he was born August 9, 1929, a son of the late Gothard and Margaret Applequist Anderson. He was a WW II US Army veteran, serving from 1946 to 1948. Buster made his career as a bricklayer and was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 3 NY. Following retirement, he worked part time for Classic Brass until just last year. Buster belonged to Bethel Lutheran Church and was a member of the Vikings Lodge, War Vets Recreation, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Eagles. In his younger days he enjoyed vigorous workouts on the handball court and in later years, regular outings on the golf course. He enjoyed traveling and cooking Sunday dinner for the family. He is survived are two daughters: Paula (John) Giambelluca of Greenhurst and Karen (Christopher) Creighton of Bemus Point; five grandchildren: Bryant J. Gauggel of North Carolina, Hilleri Shaw of Depew, NY, Elizabeth (Gary) Parker of Foxboro, MA, Brooke (Mikael) Lindsley of Annapolis, MD and Andrew Creighton of Lakewood; and two great-grandsons, Bryant J. Gauggel II and Grady Parker. Also surviving are a sister, Jackie (Roger) Youker of Charleston, SC and brother, Al Warren of Lynchburg, VA. In addition to his wife, Joyce, Bryant was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Gustafson and Betty Jones; an infant daughter, Theresa Anderson; and his best friend and beloved dog, Wimpy. A graveside memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Soldier's Circle of Lake View Cemetery. The Rev. Alan W. Anderson will officiate. Visitation will not be observed. A Celebration of Life will be held at the War Vets Recreation on Fluvanna Avenue following the graveside service Thursday.
