My condolences to Joes family.
When I was 14 and lived in Jamestown, he took me and my dad on my first flight in a single engine plane. He let me take the controls for a little bit and explained how everything worked. I was hooked. My first love was aviation. He told me I could do anything I wanted in life including getting my pilots license - which wasn’t a popular choice for girls at the time.
I moved to Pittsburgh a couple of years later, and got my pilots license on my 19th birthday!!
I now work at the Pittsburgh International Airport as a Communications Manager.
Thank you Joe for being such an inspiration to me and so many others and for all of the amazing work you did during your life.

We are coming up on 3 years since Dad passed, which is astounding. Each day I think of him in ways large and small. Our home is near a small airport, thus Cormac & I often see all manner of small aircraft flying by on Sundays. We stop and share a moment of thought about Grandpa.
We listen to records from the family home in Jamestown, bringing Dad/Grandpa to mind with songs such as "Home on the Range" and "Red River Valley," among others on a treasured lp.
When Cormac & I walk mountain trails I always share the same story about how Grandpa loved loved loved that I was raising my son to appreciate Nature! Also, Grandpa loved how Cormac & I gear up for days of exploration and challenges in the elements.
This great gentleman lives on in the hearts of his 10 children, 13 grandchildren, and of course MOM!! Each visit to Jamestown includes a drive down Meadow Lane, taking a look at the home which is so full of Minarovich memories!!

I only knew Joe from my time at the Chautauqua County Airport. Joe would always stop and say Hello when ever he was in the Terminal. Joe never said a cross word and was a real gentleman. I never knew Joe personally, just to speak to a few times a week. I am sure he will be missed. He was a real nice guy.

A sad day for the aviation community. I'm thankful I had the opportunity to spend time with Joe while with the JCC aviation program, '00-'02. He was an amazing man and such a huge advocate for his students. What an amazing man to have in your corner. You will be missed Joe! God speed, clear skies and tailwinds my friend. God bless ✈️

Joe was such a role model for many. My family and I have known Joe for almost 40 years and he was giving and generous to say the least. He has helped so many including myself. When I was assistant chief flight instructor at Jamestown Aviation, it was rare to NOT see Joe there. The airport wasn't the same without him there, you ALWAYS knew when he was around. His teaching and passing of knowledge to others will live forever. He will he sorely sorely be missed. Fly west my friend, fly west.

I have known and loved Joe since 1982. His passion for flying and for children knew no bounds. I am friends with Carol Heelas and Kathy Fox who have also worked at JCC since the eighties. We have all remained friends throughout the years and we are friends on Facebook. This is what I posted on Facebook today because Carol posted something about Joe one year ago today and it came up in my memories... I wanted to share it with all of you. And Beth I don't know if you remember me from school that I sure remember you. My condolences to all of you. This is how we were talking about Joe today and one year ago today... And there will never be another like him.
Carol Jean... Look what you sent me one year ago today...
"Jamie, I got to see Joe Minarovich yesterday. We visited an old Rio customer at LSS and Joe happened to be in the dining room. It was AWESOME to talk to him."
"I tried to share the original post that you sent me a year ago but it would not allow me to. Kathy Fox was on the post also and I asked you if you knew who you were and you said yes he yelled for you. Life sure is funny isn't it girlfriends... Love to you both... And here's to hoping Joe is flying gliders in Heaven and teaching everybody about them!"

Dear Tom,
I was saddened to hear about your dad. He sounded like a good person.
He gave the gift of knowledge in his donation. That is a wonderful tribute.
