Obituary of Phyllis J. Clauson

Phyllis J. Clauson, 86, Lakewood N.Y. passed quietly away in her home on Feb 24, 2017 surrounded by loving family at her side. Memorial service will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 904 W. Third St, Jamestown, NY. 4:00 pm on Wednesday March 1, 2017. Visitation to follow the service in Gustafson Fellowship Hall in the church lower level. Phyllis devoted her life to her family and lived life with a smile and kind word for all regardless of the challenges that came her way. A favorite pet was always by her side. She enjoyed her home in Lakewood NY for over 50 years. She was employed as senior lab technician at Jamestown General Hospital for nearly 20 years before retiring in 1986 where she enjoyed many years with the staff members at the hospital. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Al-Anon & MS society of Jamestown NY. Born April 2, 1930 she is predeceased by her husband Merlin "Moonie" Clauson, her parents Elna & Francis Jones of Jamestown NY; her aunt Connie(John) Slagle of Rochester NY; uncle Roy Nelson(Bea) of Jamestown NY; nephews Garey and Terry Nelson; and brother in law Otis "Bud" Pillsbury. Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Terri J. Linamen(Ronald) of Lakewood NY and Michelle "Shelley" Clauson of Key West, Fl., grandson James J. Brown III now living in Buffalo NY; Sister Joyce Jones Pillsbury and nephew Craig Pillsbury of Jamestown NY. Additional surviving family members include Connie J. Slagle of Rochester NY, Karen Slagle Willison(Jeffrey) of Atlanta Ga; Dr. Bruce Slagle(Ida) of Canastota NY; and Larry Nelson(Debbie) of Fort Pierce Fl. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to CJ Slagle and many other family members and dear friends, Visiting Nursing Association and Chautauqua Hospice for providing loving care and comfort through the long & difficult struggle with MS for over 30 years.
