Obituary of Raymond C. Wickmark
Raymond C. Wickmark, 84, of Jamestown, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A lifelong area resident, he was born February 22, 1933 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Herbert L. and Ethel I. Taylor Wickmark.
Ray was a 1950 graduate of Falconer Central School and served in the New York Army National Guard for 10 years.
Before his retirement in 1996, he served as the electrical inspector for the New York Board of Fire Underwriters for 10 years. He had also owned and operated Wickmark Electric Company working as a self employed electrician for 25 years.
He was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church, the Mt. Moriah Lodge #145 Free and Accepted Masons, the Kharram Grotto, the Lakewood Kiwanis Club, the Herman Kent Post 777, American Legion, Celoron and a longtime member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Sandra E. Wilson whom he married August 27, 1952, a son, Todd E. (Kathy) Wickmark of Fredonia, NY, a daughter, Lisa R. (Steve) Peterson of Jamestown, seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Harris, Tara (Nathan) Thorne both of Dacula, GA, Amanda Wickmark, Dustin Wickmark both of Fredonia, Alexis Peterson, Lucas Peterson both of Jamestown, Chelsea Peterson of Erie, PA, seven great grandchildren, Kaylin Harris, Ella Harris, Greyden Harris, Logan Thorne, Brandon Thorne, Carly Thorne and Elijah Peterson.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Frederes, Audrey Wickmark, Marjorie Bennett and a brother, Wallace Wickmark.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of the Lutheran Home will officiate.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home.
