Obituary of Susan Marie Ayers

Susan Marie Cornell Ayers, 69, passed away on February 19, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital Frederick, MD after a brief illness. She was born September 22, 1947 in Jamestown, NY to the late Raymond E. and Etta J. (Gunnarson) Cornell. She graduated from Alfred University in 1969 and completed graduate studies at the University of Virginia and the Army Management Staff College at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. She was a career civil servant in the Department of Defense, serving from 1974-2007. She served at Fort Ritchie, MD for almost twenty-five years, as well as Fort Meade, MD and US Army Personnel Command in Alexandria, VA. She lived in the same house on Baker Park in Frederick, MD, for thirty-five years. She enjoyed cross-country skiing, tennis, and swimming. She was very fond of SAAB automobiles. She is survived by her son, Andrew C. (Susan H.) Ayers, a Foreign Service officer; granddaughter, Etta K. Ayers; and cousins. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday March 18th in the Lind Funeral Home. She will be buried next to her parents in the Lake View Cemetery.
