Obituary of Donald W. Genske
Donald W. Genske, 96, formerly of Irving, NY and Brocton, NY, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, he was born November 23, 1920 in Brocton, NY, a son of the late Rudolph and Josephine Barber Genske.
Don was a self employed concord grape farmer in the Brocton area for many years and before his retirement had worked at the Gowanda State Hospital for 15 years.
Don was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fredonia for many years.
Surviving are a daughter, Marian (Gregory) Genske-Worrell of Jamestown, NY, a son, Rudolph A. Genske of Silver Creek, NY, a granddaughter, Dr.Christina (Dr. John) Genske-Tang of Fishers, IN and two great granddaughters, Evangeline Tang and Josephine Tang.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Jane Anderstrom Genske whom he married August 4, 1950 and who died August 20, 2013, two brothers, Theodore and James Genske and six sisters, Mildred Corell, Wilhelmenia Murphy, Dorothy Bowman, Marian Genske, Emma Rapp and Lucille Delcamp.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple St. Fredonia, NY. The Rev. William Novack, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, NY.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple St. Fredonia, NY 14063 or to a charity of one's choice.
