Obituary of Marilyn L. Johnson

Marilyn L. Johnson, formerly of 38 Lucy Lane, Celoron, died Thursday March 16, 2017, in the home of her daughter in Sherman. She was born August 22, 1929, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Paul and Irma Karlberg Limberg. Marilyn was a 1946 graduate of Frewsburg High School and later completed practical nurses training in Buffalo. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she was employed by WCA Hospital as a licensed practical nurse for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking which worked into a catering business. She and a good friend prepared food and served it for many weddings and parties. For many years she organized and helped prepare food for special annual dinners at church. She was always looking for new recipes to try and enjoyed entertaining at home She was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the first Red Hat Society in Jamestown which she started. In younger years she enjoyed crafting, was an accomplished knitter and sewer, and was the Girl Scout leader who arranged to plant the trees currently growing at Fletcher School. Surviving are two daughters Shelley (Fred) Croscut of Sherman and Sharen (Jeff) Hilt of Marco Island, FL; three grandchildren Heather Croscut of Celoron, Brent (Tabetha) Croscut of Bow, NH and Stacey (Dustin) Crandall of Mt. Morris, PA; three great grandchildren Kayla and Addison Croscut and Molly Crandall and a brother Bruce (Patricia) Limberg of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. "Charlie" Johnson, whom she married October 19, 1982 and who died November 23, 2011 and a brother Brian Limberg. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Raymond C. Gilman will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
