Obituary of Florence A. Christian

Florence A. Christian, 89, formerly of 23 W. 3rd Street, died Sunday March 26, 2017, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born October 8, 1927, a daughter of the late Sigfred and Margaret Herbert Bernhard. She was a 1946 graduate of Jamestown High School. For many years she was employed as a dental assistant by Drs. Greenbaum and Wolinsky. She was a member of Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ where she served as a deaconess and was a member of the women's group. She loved to play bingo, knit, read, watch Wheel of Fortune and word search puzzles. Surviving are two daughters Linda (Dennis) Murphy of Jamestown and Peggy Frankiewicz of Jamestown; five grandchildren Kelly Murphy, Christopher Murphy, Thomas C. Frankiewicz, Laura Breeding and Dr. Jeffrey Frankiewicz; five great grandchildren Brianna Raymond, Christian and Taylor Frankiewicz and Jon and Zach Breeding; two step grandchildren Mellissa Mitchell and Shannon Fuller; four step great grandchildren Olivia Mitchell, Alexis Long, Luke and Cassandra Fuller; her pet cockatiel of 14 years Corky and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her husband Richard Christian, who died January 13, 1992; son in law Thomas Frankiewicz and two sisters Janette Nelson and Jean Johnson. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
