Obituary of Janet E. Tomb

Janet Eleanor Dalrymple Tomb, "GG", passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 surrounded by family at her home in Jamestown at the age of 92. She was the widow of Lewis R. Tomb, whom she married February 26, 1944 and who died May 14, 1987. Janet was born February 22, 1925 in Easton, Pa. and received her nursing degree from St. Luke's University in Bethlehem, Pa. She was employed as a registered nurse by the former Jamestown General Hospital for 30 years. She also founded the Social Club, an outreach program for individuals with mental health issues, and was a board member of the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Center. Janet volunteered in Outpatient Rehab/Physical Therapy for a number of years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are six children: Raymond L. (Connie) Tomb of Florida, Claire L. Murray of Jamestown, Robert L. Tomb of Jamestown, Lois A. Sager of Bradford, Pa., Jayne L. (Murph) Hann of Frenchtown, NJ and Barbara S. Tomb of Jamestown. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Heather (David) Young, Justin (Lisa) Murray, Matthew Tomb, Jessica (Pete) DeMartini, Eric (Kait) Sager, Marc Hann, Elizabeth Mara, and Kelly Mara; as well as eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Janet was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Deborah Tomb and a grandson, Gary W. "Buddy" Hann. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Donald E. Ray, pastoral associate, will officiate. Burial will be in the Musconetcong Cemetery in Hampton, NJ. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
