Obituary of Richard S. Maitland

Richard S. Maitland, formerly of Norton Ave, Jamestown, passed away Thursday March 30, 2017 at UPMC Chautauqua WCA. He was born in Mortons Corners, NY on June 22, 1941 to Samuel and Stella Maitland. He was married for 28 years to Sylvia Warner Maitland until her death in 2009. He graduated from Springville-Griffith Institute in Springville, NY and served in the US Army before becoming a nurse. He worked for several years at Gowanda Psychiatric Center and at Bush Industries, Inc., retiring in 2005. He was a long time member of the Falconer First Wesleyan Church. Richard is survived by his step-children Pamela Caprino, Tina (Tanya) Swanson-Swauger and Timothy (Aruna) Swauger of Lakewood, NY, Deborah Swauger and Susan Waite of West Ellicott, NY, and Cynthia (Lewis) Aronson of Bemus Point, NY, his grandchildren Gabe, Josiah, and Clare Caprino, Caleb (Michelle), Hannah and Sarah Waite, Justin (Molly) Hanft, Antoine (Julia) Aronson, Rebecca (Christoph) Aronson-Milz, Michael (Lindsey) Aronson, Megan Swauger, Courtney (Dave) Bartley, and Gannon Swanson-Nardoni, his brothers Tom (Bridgett) Maitland, Norman (Alaina) Maitland and his sister Janet Howland, and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Sunday in the funeral home.
