Obituary of Mary C. Prinzi
Mary C. Prinzi, 93, of 63 Chestnut St. Jamestown, passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Mother's Day, Sunday May 14, 2017, in Warren Manor, Warren, PA.
A lifelong area resident, she was born February 15, 1924 in Jamestown, NY a daughter of the late Russell M. Cappa and Sarah Mazzurco Cappa Gullotti.
She was a 1942 graduate of Jamestown High School.
In earlier years she was employed by the former Art Metal Incorporated, first as a riveter and later as an office worker during World War II. Following that she was employed by the former Jamestown General Hospital for 26 years where her jobs included floor secretary, EKG technician, and later as an EEG department manager from where she retired in 1988.
Mary was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and was a volunteer for the St. Josephs Table, the St. James Festival, church bingo and many other functions of the church. She also served as an officer for the former St. James School and was active in the PTA and the Catholic Mothers. She was also a member of the AAUW, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, the Jamestown Women of the Moose and was active in the local TOPS Group.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her late husband to Italy, Hawaii and Las Vegas. She also was very proud of her five grandsons and three great grandsons. She loved her trips to Notre Dame University and watching her grandsons as they grew up and became fine young men.
Surviving are a son, Samuel (Christine) Prinzi of Jamestown, five grandsons, Daniel A. (Kacy) Prinzi of Webster, NY, Dr. Robert A. (Dr. Sarah) Prinzi of Atlanta, GA, Thomas S. Prinzi of Monroeville, PA, Michael A. (TIffany) Prinzi, Christopher S. Prinzi both of Buffalo, NY, three great grandsons, Colton and Dominic Prinzi of Buffalo, Benjamin Samuel Prinzi of Atlanta, four brothers, William Gullotti, Alfred Gullotti, Dominic Gullotti, Frank Gullotti, a sister, Jeannette Carlson all of Jamestown, her son Anthony's fiance, Becky Waite and the mother of Anthony's children, Rose Prinzi.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony F. Prinzi, Sr. whom she married November 28, 1946 and who died June 21, 1997, a son, Anthony F. Prinzi, Jr. who died December 4, 2016 and two brothers, Carl M. Cappa and Herbert M. Gullotti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be celebrant. Entombment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends will be received from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.
