Obituary of Janice H. Swanson

Janice H. Swanson, 87, of 3080 West Oak Hill Road, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in her daughter's home in Jamestown. She was born April 12, 1930 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Orville and Minnie Johnson Holm. Janice graduated from Jamestown High School and was a 1951 graduate of the WCA Hospital School of Nursing, working briefly as a Registered Nurse at WCA Hospital. When her children were born, she was a full time stay at home Mom. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren, never missing their activities. Surviving are three sons: Steven J. (the late Maryann) Swanson of Falconer, Mark D. (Mary Jo) Swanson of Jamestown, Gary R. (Laurie) Swanson of Frewsburg; a daughter, Lynn Marie (Christopher) Watson of Jamestown; 11 grandchildren: Steven, Christopher, Andrea, Bethany, Joseph, Chantel, Justin, AnnaMarie, Ashley, Dustin, and Eric; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Miner B. Swanson whom she married October 28, 1951 and who died May 27, 2015; a great-granddaughter, Kayla J. Haase; and a sister, Marilyn Christian. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday May 19, 2017 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. H. Wayne Eppehimer, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon to 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of choice.
