Obituary of Lois H. Ball

Lois H. Ball, 88, formerly of Maple Springs, NY, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing facility in Greenhurst. She was the widow of William G. Ball, whom she married April 29, 1950 and who died January 23, 1988. Lois was born December 20, 1928 in St. Petersburg, Fla., a daughter of the late Russell H. and Mabel Bemus Haskin, and was valedictorian of her 1947 Bemus Point graduating class. She was a former member of the Maple Springs Community Church and the Ladies Aid Society. Lois loved to read and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She is survived by five children: Linda J. (Mike) Richner of Bemus Point, Marilyn K. Lord of Edgewood, KY, Cynthia A. Sampson of Jamestown, William H. (Jana) Ball of Ashville, NY, and Louise M. (Jack) Dunham of Grove City, PA; ten grandchildren: Marissa Rogenthien of Painesville, OH, Aaron Richner of Cassadaga, Sara Ranson of Park Hills, KY, Amanda Lord of Edgewood, KY, Adam Sampson of Bemus Point, Ryan Sampson of Jamestown, Laramie Ball and Wyatt Ball, both of Ashville, Katherine Sparn of Oil City, PA and Alex Sparn of Slippery Rock, PA; and ten great-grandchildren: Caleb, Jared, Micah & Isaac Rogenthien, Noah & Maya Richner, Benjamin, Eli & Grace Ranson, and Robert Sampson. In addition to her husband William, Lois was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Raynor and son-in-law, Clifford E. Lord. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Kristen Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
