Obituary of Sharleen M. Thompson

Sharleen M. Thompson, 78, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Falconer, NY, passed away unexpectedly Thursday June 8, 2017 in Anchorage, AK while visiting family. She was born July 3, 1938 in Warren, PA the daughter of the late George and Beatrice John McMillen. Sharleen was a 1956 graduate of Falconer High School. She had been employed as a bookkeeper in the office of Dr. Chander and at McFadden Ford. Earlier, she worked at National Worsted Mills. Sharleen attended churches in Leesburg, FL and Alaska. Locally she attended Levant Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, Pinochle, bowling, square dancing, and traveling with her late husband Merle. Sharleen volunteered at the Benevolent Association and loved dogs. Surviving are three daughters, Dawn (Wayne) Thompson of Falconer; Sherry (Scott) Streed of Jamestown; Wendy (Ray) Smaltz of Edinboro, PA; a son, Brett Thompson of Chugiak, AK; nine grandchildren, Justin and Jeremiah Swartz; Nicholas, Andrew, and David Jaroszynski; Jordan, Joshua, Katelyn, and Kristen Carter; four great grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexander Jaroszynski; Emma and Robert Blount; a sister, Connie Hawkins of Leesburg, FL; and her beloved dogs, Brandy and SuzyQ. Sharleen and Merle were loving host parents to exchange students Karsten, Helene, Eva, Susie, Paul, Pia, David, Katarina, Petra and Ulga. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Thompson who died in 1994. At Sharleen's request, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer, NY.
