Obituary of William L. Rooney

William L. Rooney, Sr., 74, of 3073 Open Meadows Rd., Ashville, NY, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 in the Gowanda Rehabilitation Nursing Facility. He was born April 30, 1943 in Corry, Pa., a son of the late James I. and Ruth Bromley Rooney, where he attended Corry High School. In his youth he worked for Ajax in Corry and in later years at Proto Tool in Jamestown and retired from Lexington Die Cast in Lakewood. He took pride in his gardening and enjoyed watching birds with his late wife Marg. Surviving is his daughter Debbe (Gene) Littlefield and a son William L. (Teresa) Rooney, Jr., both of Jamestown; three sisters: Roberta Ruger and Ellen Carr, both of Corry, Pa, Barbara Rogers of NH; three brothers; Wallace (Marcella) Rooney of Corry, Pa., Tom (Doris) Rooney of Jamestown, Jerry (Kathleen) Rooney of Sherman, NY; and three grandchildren; Jeremy Eddy, Heather Ball, and Rylee Littlefield. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A."Marg" Fardink Rooney, whom he married November 23, 1974 and who passed away on November 23, 2013; four sisters: Florence Swanson, Opal Nichols, Shirley McCray, Mabel Smith; a brother James (Jim) Rooney; and a grandson Robert Roy Kinne II. In keeping with William's wishes no calling hours or service will be observed. Inurnment will be in the Ashville Maple Grove Cemetery.
