Obituary of Alice L. Hillebert
Alice Luella (Hill) Hillebert, 97, formerly of Leon, NY, passed away peacefully Sunday July 9, 2017 in the Lutheran Retirement Home.
She was born November 25, 1919 in the Town of New Albion, NY to Max Hill and Cora (Kilby) Hill.
Alice graduated from Little Valley High School in 1938 and from Jamestown Business College in 1939.
She married the love of her life, Morgan "Buster" Hillebert on June 7, 1940 at her family home on Tug Hill, Cattaraugus, NY. She was employed by Atty. Samuel Alessi, Sr. in Jamestown. Alice was Tax Collector for the Town of Leon for many years, and worked for Arthur Young at Young Tax Service. She was an accomplished seamstress, and loved to garden. Alice was an active member of the Lakeside Garden Club in Fluvanna for many years, the Cherry Creek Women's Monday Book Club, and was a 4-H Leader.
She and her husband owned and operated a large dairy farm on the Leon-New Albion Road for many years until his untimely death in 1971. However, she continued on for a few years thereafter with the help of their young sons, David and Dale.
Family was the all-important concern for her and the love she had for each one was insurmountable.
Alice is survived by her five children and their spouses: Bonnie and Vince DeRosa of Jamestown, NY; Kay and George Hollebon of Annapolis, MD and Ocala, FL; Vickie Hillebert (Melvin Paret) of Lake Charles, LA; David and Cathy Hillebert of Jamestown, NY; Dale and Kathy Hillebert of Cherry Creek, NY; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Doris Maxine Reed of Jamestown, NY; two brothers, Raymond Hill of Homosassa, FL; Roland Hill and his wife Onnolee of Homosassa, FL and Cattaraugus, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband Morgan Andrew Hillebert, she was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Roy and Irene Hill; a sister and her husband, Violet and Harry Clark; a sister, Vivian Wulff; a brother-in-law, James Reed; and a sister-in-law, Eloise Hill.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday July 14th in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev William Blair will officiate.
Burial will be in Treat Memorial Cemetery, Town of Leon.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday July 13th in the funeral home.
