Obituary of Cynthia A. Reiss

Cynthia Paris Reiss, 74, of 1007 Hunt Road, Lakewood, died Tuesday July 11, 2017, in her home. An area resident all of her life, she was born March 30, 1943, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth Swanson MacPherran. She was a 1961 graduate of Jamestown High School, serving on the reunion committee for many years and later graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business School. For over 30 years she worked as an insurance agent for Prudential. She was a member of Lakewood Book Club, Lakewood Garden Club and the Marvin Community House. She enjoyed golfing at South Hills Country Club where she was a member. Surviving are her husband Carl Reiss, whom she married July 7, 2007; two children Stephanie Paris-Whitney of Waltham, MA and Steven Paris of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Elizabeth, Jacob and Caroline Whitney all of Waltham, MA, Brittany Paris of Kansas City, MO, Ashley and Alyssa Ongley both of Corry, PA and Tea' Paris of Myrtle Beach; two step sons Brian (Robyn) Reiss of Albany, NY and Scott (Lisa) Reiss of Olean, NY; four step grandchildren Zack, Gage, Riley and Brady Reiss; two sisters Joyce (Roy) Hager of Erie, PA and Mary Sue (Steve) Pawlak of Jamestown and a brother Scott MacPherran of Houston, TX. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Jeffrey Whitney and a step brother Robert. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral home. Rev. Timothy Phelps will officiate. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W.
