Obituary of Kathleen A. Gourley

Kathleen A. Gourley, 69, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2017. Born April 11, 1948, Kathy was a Jamestown resident for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Jeanne Danforth Gourley. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966, and from there she decided to travel to such places as Hawaii, the Bahamas and eventually London, where she was lucky enough to meet her idols, The Beatles. Upon finally settling back in Jamestown, she became a devoted member of The First Baptist Church. There she joined the choir and became a Sunday school teacher. She then eventually joined the Viking Chorus in Jamestown. She spent the last 27 years employed by All Metal Specialties where she became a member of a wonderful working family. Kathy was also very artistic and had enjoyed painting, crocheting, quilting and visiting craft shows throughout the area. She is survived by her sister, Cindy Anderson of Matthews, NC; a nephew, Tim Anderson (Jessa) of Le Roy, NY; nieces Jill Martin (Jeff) of Monroe, NC and Cara Shannon (Michael) of Tewksbury, MA; three great nieces, Regan and Rylan Anderson & Amelia Martin; and a great nephew, Cooper Martin. Also surviving is her sister in-law, Laurie Gourley; many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles; and her loving family at All Metal Specialties. In addition to her parents, Kathy is preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Gourley. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22nd at the First Baptist Church in Jamestown. The Rev. Michael Childs will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home.
