Obituary of Roy B. Larson

Roy B. Larson, 95, of Lakewood, NY, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing facility. He was born May 7,1922 in Jamestown, the son of the late Edward and Esther Holmquist Larson, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1940. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church and was later a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and more recently Ashville United Methodist Church. Roy had been employed by General Electric in Erie, Swanson Machine, and for 35 years by Jamestown Metal Products, retiring in 1987 as a detail engineer. He returned to work for Falconer Electronics, retiring again at age 90. Roy also enjoyed photography, both as a hobby and professionally. He took many wedding photographs and group photos for local high school yearbooks, as well as owned the former Images Studio. Roy was a member of the Vikings Lodge #65, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Celoron Senior Citizens. He enjoyed fishing and many craft projects, especially with wood. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol Smith Larson, whom he married November 23, 1979; five children: John (Chi Sun) Larson of Arizona, Barbara Wireman of Ohio, David (Carol) Larson of Illinois, Daniel Larson of Auburn NY, Mary Ellen Larson of Buffalo, NY and a step-daughter, Judy Casselman of Amherst, NY; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and his two pet cats. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Dirnberger. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
