Obituary of Terry R. King
Terry R. King, 58, of Ashville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family Tuesday August 15, 2017 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA the result of head injuries sustained from a fall at his home.
A lifelong area resident, he was born July 22, 1959 in Jamestown the son of the late Conrad R. "Connie" and Betty Leah Bush King.
Terry was a 1977 graduate of Panama High School, attended Jamestown Community College, and graduated from Alfred State College. He had worked with his family at Kings Heating and Sheet Metal for 40 years, currently serving as president, and also taught in the Sheet Metal Apprenticeship program. He was a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Terry was an active member of the Panama Baptist Church where he served as worship song leader for 25+ years, sang in the praise and worship band, and was a deacon for several years. In addition to singing, he enjoyed skiing, golfing, boating, playing tennis, roller coasters, the theater, traveling especially missions trips, riding around on his Harley or in his Corvette, and he was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan. He had many interests, however his family was always number 1.
Surviving are his wife Connie Kobalka King; two daughters, Erin D. (Matthew) Carnes of Lakewood; Shannen L. (James) Colton of Hamburg, NY; two grandsons, Landon and Riley Carnes of Lakewood; a third grandson on the way. Four stepchildren, Ryan (Rachel) tenPas of Falconer; Chad (fiancé Andra) tenPas of Rochester; Eric (fiancé Ann) tenPas of Pittsburgh; Nicole tenPas of Rochester; four step grandchildren, Michael, Anastasia, Dalphne, and Isadora; two brothers, David P. (Alby) King, Leslie M. (Kimberly) King both of Ashville; and Douglas' wife P. Deborah King of Ashville, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lori C. King; a grandson, Weston Carnes; and a brother, Douglas C. King.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday August 19, 2017 in the Panama Baptist Church. Pastor Rodney Sprowls will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ashville.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Saturday in the church.
The King family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the first responders, Starflight, the staff at Hamot Hospital, and all the prayers and well wishes during this difficult time.
