Obituary of Glenn W. Kohler
Glenn W. Kohler, 69, of 53 New York Ave., Lakewood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2017, surrounded by his wife and children in Roswell Park Cancer Institute, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born June 16, 1948, in Bradford, PA, the son of the late Benjamin E. and Betty L. Gage Kohler.
He was a 1967 graduate of Southwestern High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Before his retirement, Glenn was employed as a truck driver for New England Motor Freight for many years earning several safety awards and Driver of The Year Award. In earlier years he worked for AVM Corporation, the Village of Lakewood, and Lakewood M.P. Vets Club.
He was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, Herman Kent Post 777, Chautauqua Lake Fish Club, and Lakewood Celoron Moose.
He grew up on Chautauqua Lake with a love of fishing, which he passed on to his children. Other hobbies also included hunting, reading and his motorcycle.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 45 years, Candice L. Butman Kohler, whom he married March 25, 1972, two daughters; Kristin (Eric Dunnewold) Kohler of Jamestown and Shannon (Scott) Costantino of Rochester; eight grandchildren: Jacob, Chloe, and Veronica Short, Caitlynn Dunnewold, Shane, Sullivan, Saxton, and Siahnna Costantino; mother-in-law Carol Butman; a sister Sharon (Terry) Truver; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Maggie.
Glenn's wishes were to celebrate a life well lived. Family and friends will be welcomed between 12 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club pavilion, 433 E. Terrace Ave. Lakewood, NY.
