Obituary of Brenda S. Okerlund

Brenda S. Okerlund, 68, of 288 E. Summit Avenue, Lakewood, died unexpectedly Friday August 25, 2017, in the home of her sister in Jamestown. An area resident all of her life, she was born May 1, 1949, in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Sherwood and Edythe Vroman Beck. She was a 1967 graduate of Jamestown High School and 1968 graduate of Jamestown School of Practical Nursing. For over 30 years she was employed by WCA Hospital as a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of Southern Tier Classic Chevy Club, former member of Jamestown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. She loved her pets, liked sewing and model railroad trains. Surviving are two sisters Bonnie (David) Thorpe of St. Peters, MO and Vicky (Kenyon) Hanson of Jamestown, several nieces and nephews and her cat Lego who was her constant companion. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Okerlund, whom she married May 24, 1975 and who died August 10, 2015. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home.
