Obituary of Paul J. McCabe
Paul J. McCabe, 90, of 304 East Elmwood Ave. Falconer, NY, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident since 1951, he was born December 22, 1926 in Ashford, NY, a son of the late Oscar H. and Rose L. Fuller McCabe, Sr.
Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from March 13, 1945 to October 19, 1946 during World War II. During his tour of duty he received the Army of Occupation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Before his retirement in 1993, he was employed by Jamestown Metal Products for 26 years. He also worked for the former National Worsted Mills from 1951-1968.
Paul was always very active in community events as a member of the Falconer Senior Citizens, Jamestown Senior Citizens, Jamestown Area Singles Association and the Jamestown Supper Traveler's. He was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, Celoron, NY and the Pine Valley Post 2522 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Cherry Creek, NY. He was also active in the Chautauqua Squares Dance Group and was a volunteer for the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
Surviving are two daughters; Dianne J. (Robert) Minekime of Dewittville, NY, Paula N. (Jimmie) Parson of Celoron, NY, five grandchildren; Nadine (Dan) Kramell of Wyoming, NY, Vicky Rolfe of Westfield, NY, Brian Minekime of Dewittville, Terry (Amy) Parson of Randolph, NY, Lacey Range of Panama, NY, 11 great grandchildren, a sister; Violet Buffum of Springville, NY, and a brother; Oscar H. McCabe, Jr. of NC.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Joyce N. Hilliman McCabe whom he married June 27, 1947 and who died January 24, 1990, three brothers; Clarence O., Roy H. and Lyle E. McCabe, three sisters; Esther R. Purdy, Ethel M. Gradler, Mona M. Bowen and his close friend Betty Barber.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy E. Ferguson, pastor of the Busti Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 3-5 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
