Obituary of Audrey M. Brostrom
Audrey M. Brostrom, 94, of Jamestown, passed way on Saturday, September 23, 2017, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A Jamestown resident for most of her life, she was born March 2, 1923 in Grove City, PA, a daughter of the late Charles and Floretta Millsop VanDyke.
She was a graduate of Oil City High School, Oil City, PA and also a graduate of Jamestown Business College.
Before her retirement in 1992,she had owned and operated the family business, Brostroms in downtown Jamestown. The business began as Brostrom & Connor Shoe Store and together with her late husband, Wyllys, they expanded the company into women's ready to wear clothing with stores in Corry , Bradford and Lewiston, PA as well as Lakewood and Olean, NY and two locations in Jamestown.
She was a member of the Jamestown Church of Christ, of which she loved and appreciated her church family, the Zonta Club of Jamestown, Thule Lodge, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, Moon Brook Country Club and the Downtown Jamestown Merchant's Association.
Surviving are a daughter; Donna R. (Samuel) Dispenza of Fairport, NY, a son; Richard W. (Ulla Moller-Jensen) Brostrom of Myrtle Beach, SC, five grandchildren; Dawn (Paul) Ray of Ashville, NC, Todd (Amy) Brostrom, Portland, NY, Page (Christopher) Walker of Midlothian, VA, Troy (Sandy) Brostrom of Lima, OH, Mark (Jennifer) Dispenza of Rochester, NY, eight great grandchildren; Mason Ray, Bethany Brostrom Munsch, Jacob Brostrom, Kendall Walker, Allyson Brostrom, Kathryn Claire Brostrom, Barrett Walker, Brayden Brostrom , two great great grandchildren; Mason and Lyla Rose Munsch, a sister; Jeanne Low of Easley, SC, two sister-in-laws; Lucille Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lois VanDyke of Seneca, PA and her devoted niece Cindy Strandburg of Warren, PA.
A memorial service for Audrey will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, September 30, 2017, in the Jamestown Church of Christ. Richard O. McCurdy, gospel preacher will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, in the Lind Funeral Home.
