Obituary of Margaret I. Langworthy
Margaret I. Harsen Langworthy, 96, of 2229 Second Ave. Cottage Park, Lakewood, passed away Saturday October 28, 2017 in her home.
An area resident since 1940, she was born July 27, 1922 in Franklinville, NY the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred Houghton Harsen.
Margaret was a 1940 graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville.
She was employed by several furniture businesses in the Jamestown area as well as a medical secretary for 15 years at the former Jamestown General Hospital. She and her late husband Curtis, owned several businesses over the years, including the Jamestown Coin Supply and Coast to Coast Antiques. Margaret was an active member of the Camp Street United Methodist Church for several years, volunteering for many activities until her illness in 2012. She enjoyed raising birds and tropical fish, making crafts, and fudge. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids and family get togethers.
Surviving are three children: Beverly (the late James) Vincent of Florida; Gary (Joan) Harding and Guy (Lisa) Langworthy both of Lakewood; 16 grandchildren: Lisa Staples, Kimberly Lamphere, Steven (Theresa) Harding, Ronda (Daniel) Forsberg, Duane (Heidi) Harding, Kevin Harding, Emmalee (Michael) Agostini, Joshua Clark, Daniel Auria, Kenneth (Kimberly) Peterson, James Peterson, Gabrielle Langworthy, Allison Langworthy, Briana (Zachery) Edwardes, Brian Shaver, and Paul (Julia) Shaver; 28 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two sisters: Irene Gregg and Corrine Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis G. Langworthy whom she married July 18, 1962 and who died February 18, 1996; a son Ronald L. Harding who died February 26, 1992; two sisters, Marjorie Henderson and Ruth Crisafulli; and a brother, Leo Harsen.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday November 3, 2017 in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark Parsons will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Camp Street United Methodist Church, 110 Sanford Drive, Jamestown, NY 14701.
