Obituary of Louis J. Landy

Louis J. Landy, 90, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday November 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 24, 1927 in Jamestown the son of the late Pasquale and Carmella Bellardo Landy. Lou was a US Navy Veteran of WWII, serving onboard the USS General H. W. Butner. He was awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Prior to retirement, he was a truck driver with S. M. Flickinger Co. for over 35 years, receiving the safe driver award for his entire career of accident free driving. For 20 years, he served as Union Steward for Teamsters Local #649. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the War Vets, past member of the Jamestown American Legion, the Eagles Club, and the VFW. Lou loved playing cards with his friends regularly and enjoyed his daily 2 mile walk. He was a big Buffalo Bills fan and adored his dog, Abbey. Most of all, Lou loved being surrounded by his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, especially during Sunday pasta dinners. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Doris M. Craker Landy; three children, Toni M Odorisio (Rick) and Phillip A. Landy both of Jamestown; Stephanie A. Landy (John Noonan) of Ballston Spa, NY; four grandchildren, Christopher Himes (Melissa), Jennifer Lisciandro (Russ Siggens), Louis Landy (Kayla), and Anthony Landy; five great grandchildren, Julian and Hudson Himes, Bella and Sammy Lisciandro, Sloane Siggens; and his Godson, Patsy Landy (Kathy, Kristina, and Dave). Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dominic, Vincent, and Joseph Landy. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 18, 2017 in Holy Apostles Parish, St. John Catholic Church. Immediately following Mass, there will be a celebration of Lou's life at the Allen Park Men's Club. Lou's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Julie Nagel and Jessica Jones from Chautauqua County Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion shown to them and Lou during his illness.
