Obituary of Mary Jane Manno

Mary Jane Manno, 84, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Jamestown, NY, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 13, 2017. A native of Jamestown, She was born November 16, 1932, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Tedesco Faso. Mary Jane attended Jamestown Schools, graduating from Jamestown High School in 1950. She went on to study and became a Medical Lab Technologist and received her training under Dr. R.F. Weedon at Jamestown Municipal Laboratory. She was employed for many years at the former Jamestown General Hospital and went on to work for many years in the lab for WCA Hospital. Mary Jane also worked and ran the labs for the offices of Dr. Samuel Hurwitz and for the last 25 years of her career for Dr. R.F. Wettingfeld. She was a faithful communicant of St. James Catholic Church and an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society and was a faithful member of the Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton for the past 17 years. She was also a member of the Jamestown Medical Laboratory Association, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Cable Hollow Golf Course. Mary Jane and her husband Bob were cross country skiers during the winter months and avid golfers during the summers. In June of the years 2000, she and her husband Bob relocated to Boca Raton, FL to be near their daughter Andrea and son-in-law Michael Taylor. Mary Jane and Bob continued to enjoy the fair Florida weather playing golf together year round for the next eight years until her beloved husband Bob went to be with the Lord. She was on a golf league Tuesday mornings at the Boca Raton Country Club and was a student of God's word, as she attended Bible Study Fellowship with her daughter for 12 years. She was an accomplished artist, wonderfully gifted in drawing, acrylics, chalk and especially water color. Her forte was impressionism and many of her family and friends have original pieces of her art work created especially for them by Mary Jane. She was known in the community for her love for and talent to bake. She was affectionately referred to as "The Cookie Lady" to many, as she would bake the most delicious cakes, brownies and Italian cookies. It was a family tradition for her, her daughter Andrea, sister-in-law Mary Lou Faso and as of late her great granddaughter Ryana Taylor to bake hundreds of her mom's Italian cookies and deliver plates of cheer to many people at Christmas time. Mary Jane was gifted with God-given wisdom and a heart of compassion, known as "Mom" to many of her daughter's friends and a true confidant to many of her friends and neighbors. She freely gave of her time to pray for or be a listening ear and will be sorely missed by many in her community. She is survived by her cherished daughter Andrea and treasured son-in-law Michael Taylor of Coconut Creek, FL and her sweet sister-in-law Mary Lou Faso of Deerfield Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Charles and Mary Tedesco Faso, her soul mate and husband, Robert S. Manno, her beloved son, Robert C. Manno and her dear brother, Carl W. Faso. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family in Florida. Inurnment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Trust Bridge Care Center (Hospice) , 1531 W. Palmetto Park road, Boca Raton, FL 33486.
