Muriel was a wonderful friend of my parents and through them of mine. My father always enjoyed playing recitals with her, and my mother and Muriel spent hours talking, worrying about diets, and practically keeling over with laughter. Muriel loved driving through the countryside in Chautauqua County, discovering the back roads and special little towns, going to Warren State Park, looking after her cats, and leaving food for deer. I have missed her the past couple of summers at Chautauqua, not knowing which of the places I found through Google she was living in. She had her ups and downs, but was a real presence and good soul!
