Obituary of Donna R. Turney

Donna R. Turney, 68, of Jamestown, passed away unexpectedly at 8:03 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, in her home. A lifelong area resident, she was born December 16, 1948 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of Betty J. Kettle and the late Garnet Sherwood Carlson. Donna was a 1967 graduate of Jamestown High School. In previous years, she was the manager of the 5th Avenue Card Shop in the Chautauqua Mall and had also worked at the Jamestown Bowling Company. Donna was a long time volunteer at the Fluvanna Free Library and also the Salvation Army and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was an avid collector of dolls, knick-knacks and enjoyed collecting antiques. She also cared deeply about her granddaughter, making sure she had a ride to and from school each day. Surviving are her mother, Betty J. Kettle of Erie, PA, a son; Brent Nelson of Jamestown, a daughter; Danelle Turney of Enfield, CT, three step-children, four grandchildren; Andrew Magee of Akron, OH, Alexis Nelson, Hannah Nelson, Kasey Nelson all of Jamestown, a great granddaughter; Desiree Wilson of Jamestown, a brother, Michael Anderson of Erie, PA, a sister, Lisa Bobo of Rochester, NY. Besides her father she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan A. Turney who died September 12, 2014 and a son, Todd S. Nelson who died May 26, 1987. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Piotr Zaczynski, pastor the Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, NY. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
