Obituary of Robert A. Genberg

Robert A. Genberg, 82, of Hyde Park, Panama, NY formerly of Spencer Rd., Jamestown, NY, passed away at 11:20 pm Tuesday, December 19, 2017, in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. An area resident for most of this life, he was born June 2, 1935, in Warren, PA, a son of the late Waldemar and Adalaide M. Still Genberg. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from August 19, 1954 to August 18, 1959. Before his retirement he was employed by the Carborundum Monofrax Plant in Falconer, NY for 30 years. Mr. Genberg attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and was very active in the Civil Air Patrol. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. Surviving are two sons; Robert A. (Rachele) Genberg, Jr. of Ashville, NY, Mark E. (Gloria) Genberg of Warren, PA, a daughter; Michele M. (David) Gibson of Jamestown, NY, eight grandchildren; Jason, Sarah, Nathan, Josh, Rachael, Cody, Zachary, Jake, five great grandchildren; Brent, Chase, Charlotte, Caroline, Clara, four brothers; Roger, David, Dennis and Thomas Genberg and two sisters; Pat Spencer and Sue Johnson. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife the former Jean E. Carter Genberg whom he married November 12, 1955 and who died July 8, 2013 and a son, John W. Genberg who died May 7, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Tara Lamont Eastman, pastor of the Tree of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate.
