Obituary of Julie M. Young

Julie M. Young, 65, of 94 West Main Street in Frewsburg, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was the wife of Mark A. Young, whom she married August 14, 1982. Julie was born in Jamestown on July 13, 1952, a daughter of the late Charles and Alice Barland Root. She was a 1970 graduate of Southwestern Central School, received her Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo, and her Master's degree in Education from Edinboro University. For 40 years, Julie had been a teacher in Special Education and kindergarten for the Southwestern School District. She was also a member of First Lutheran Church in Jamestown. In addition to her husband, Mark, surviving are three children: Andrew (Kristy) Young of West Seneca, NY, Amanda (Brian) Hecht of Atlanta, GA and Aaron (Ashley) Young of Rochester, NY; two granddaughters: Ella Young and Claire Hecht; and a brother, Jerry (Ava) Root of Panama, NY and sister, Jody (Rick) Henry of Frewsburg, NY. She was preceded in death by her mother in 2000 and her father in 2007. Julie dedicated her professional life to the hundreds of children who passed through her classroom. Her personal life was much the same. A devoted mother, Julie's greatest joy came from watching her kids experience joy and did everything in her power to make that happen. She loved spending time with her three children, and later, grandchildren. From Little League games and chorus concerts, to college graduations, weddings and births, Julie was always there for her kids. Birthdays and holidays held special importance to her. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel K. Nagle, pastor of First Lutheran Church, officiating.
