Obituary of Marian C. Barber

Marian C. Barber, 87, previously of Prendergast Ave., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018 in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. An area resident all of her life, she was born on May 22, 1930 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Charles and Carmella Ricotta Calcesi. She was a 1949 graduate of Jamestown High School. Before retirement, she was a bookkeeper at the North Main Pharmacy. In earlier years she was employed at Blackstone Corp. and Clark Supply. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Marian is survived by three sisters: Josephine Arnone and Virginia (George) Ciancio, both of Jamestown, Rose Marie Szarka of Trenton, NJ, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Barber, whom she married April 27, 1957, and who passed away June 18, 2008, and a brother in law Don Szarka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Holy Apostles Parish at St. John Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish, will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the mass on Saturday in the church.
