Obituary of Ruth I. Hallberg
Ruth I. Hallberg, 81, formerly of Everett St. Frewsburg, NY and Bellview Rd. Bemus Point, NY, passed away at 12:05 am Thursday, January 25, 2018, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
An area resident for most of her life, she was born April 11, 1936 in Youngsville, PA, a daughter of the late Harvey W. and Edna H. Olson Withington.
Before her retirement she had worked as a cafeteria monitor for the Bemus Point Central School System for over 20 years. In earlier years she had worked for the New Process Company in Warren, PA for several years and also at the former Lonnie's Restaurant in Youngsville, PA.
While living in Bemus Point she as a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church and after moving to Frewsburg attended the Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Ellery Center Fire Department Auxiliary for many years.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Burtis D. "Burt" Hallberg whom she married November 11, 1961 in Youngsville, PA, four children, Scott (Shari) Hallberg of Staunton, VA, Jody Beelendorf of Fisherville, VA, John (Peggy) Hallberg of Jamestown, NY, Charles Hallberg of Staunton, VA, nine grandchildren, Katie Hallberg, Danny Hallberg, Ellery Beelendorf, Alex Beelendorf, Caleb Hallberg, Cari Hallberg all of Staunton, VA, Elizabeth Hallberg, Emylia Hallberg, Stephen Hallberg all of Jamestown, NY, two brothers, John Withington of Titusville, FL, Roy Withington of Youngsville, PA and two sisters, Helen Larson of Kane, PA, Mary Merenick of Warren, PA.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Withington and a brother, Clarence Withington.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Bellinger Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert J. Hagel, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Friday, February 2, 2018, in the Lind Funeral Home.
