Obituary of Mary J. Beers

Mary J. Beers, 89, formerly of 50 Norton Avenue, died Tuesday January 30, 2018, in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Dimitsana, Greece, she was born March 8, 1928, a daughter of the late George and Dina Loomis Beers. She was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to her retirement in 1990, she was employed by The Other Room as a sales representative for 8 years. For over 30 years she worked for A&P Super Market as head cashier. She was a lifelong active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Her other memberships include Harmony Senior Citizens and Jamestown Area Senior Center. Surviving are nieces and nephews Dina (Donald) Hurdle of Belvidere, NC, Julie (Carey) Cole of Greenfield, IN, Laurie (Dane) Davenport of Upland, IN, Mary (Michael) Hare of Tyner, NC, Steve (Jane) Beers of Siloam Spring, AR, Suzi (Tom) Harrison of Woodstock, GA, Cathy (Pat) Dickey of Greenville, TN, and Jim (Michelle) Beers of Lexington, KY; fifteen great nieces and nephews; fifteen great-great nieces and nephews and many Godchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brother John Beers; sister in law Betty Beers; nephew Mark Beers; brother Thomas Beers and sister in law Helen Beers. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Father Jarrod Russell will officiate.
