Obituary of Janice M. McKotch

Janice M. McKotch, 77, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday February 15, 2018, in her home. A Jamestown resident all of her life, she was born October 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Revelle and Deura Martin Lang. She was a 1958 graduate of Jamestown High School. She was employed by Jamestown Insurance and then worked in home health care for Wilcare for many years. She later took a position with Chautauqua Opportunities working at the Chautauqua County Safe House until her retirement. Her life was devoted to helping others and she always put others' needs ahead of her own. Her generosity and selfless acts of kindness will always be remembered by her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She volunteered though RSVP at various places. She was a board member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary, serving as historian. She was a member of Family Church where she served in the ministry of helps. Surviving are two sons Troy "T.R." McKotch of Jamestown and Christopher (Laurel) McKotch of Lakewood; three grandchildren Irys, Carter and Austin McKotch; a brother Leslie (Virginia) Lang of West Virginia and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ronald J. McKotch, whom she married October 24, 1964 and who died May 5, 2008 and three brothers George, Eugene and Jack Lang. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Family Church, Garfield Road. Rev. Timothy Stahlman will officiate. Inurnment will be in Allen Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home.
