Obituary of Floyd Overbeck
Floyd D. Overbeck, 79, formerly of 79 Livingston Ave. Jamestown, passed away at 1:35 pm Saturday, February 24, 2018, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.
A lifelong area resident, he was born February 12, 1939 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late George "Smokey" and Clarice Waggoner Overbeck.
Before his retirement he was employed by Mason Carvings and earlier at Frontier Linen.
He was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and was a member of the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association, the Celoron Moose Lodge and the Jamestown Eagles Lodge. In earlier years he was a coach for the Jamestown City Recreation Baseball League. He will be remembered as an avid sports fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns, was an accomplished woodworker and loved his dogs.
Surviving are a daughter; Kathleen Overbeck of Jamestown, two sons; Timothy (Mary Eimers) Overbeck of Jamestown, Michael (Kristi) Overbeck of Lilburn, GA, eight grandchildren; Samantha (Dan Satterfield) Overbeck of Falconer, Justin (Liz Wilson) Overbeck, Jakob Overbeck, Stephanie Torres, Taylor (Noley Martinez) Torres, Brandon Overbeck, Sienna Overbeck, Cameron Overbeck all of Jamesown, eight great grandchildren; Vinnie Bloomberg, Ashton Satterfield, Lincoln Satterfield, Alex Torres, Gianna Martinez, Jolanys Rosado, Conner Overbeck, Spencer Overbeck, two brothers; Jack (Sue) Overbeck of Warren, PA, Terry Overbeck of Myrtle Beach, SC, his uncle; Marvin Waggoner of Warren, PA and his three aunts; Clarice Overbeck of New Port Richey, FL, Myrtle Elmquist of PA, and Delores Shellhouse of Jamestown. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife the former Theresa Marie Lombardo Overbeck whom he married August 20, 1960 and who died October 16, 2005 and a nephew James F. Overbeck.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Deacon Sam Pellerito of Holy Apostles Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2-4 pm Tuesday, prior to the service in the funeral home.
