Obituary of Matthew Newman

Matthew Newman passed heroically on March 1st 2018. Predeceased by his parents Richard and Bonnie. Survived by his daughter Taylor Newman, granddaughters Willow and Charlotte, son Reese Newman, brother Keith Newman, sister in law Sonia Newman, sister Heather Gilmartin, niece Hannah Newman, nephew Jasper Newman and 25 cousins. Matthew graduated Linton High School in Schenectady, NY in 1983 and attended SUNY College at Delhi. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After his tour, he continued to serve in the National Guard until 1994. Matthew spent the bulk of his career working for the Bechtel Marine Propulsion Corp. (KAPL) as the Captain of Security Police. Matthew loved his family, hunting, auto racing and the great outdoors. He will be remembered for his dedication to work, loyalty to friends and love of country. Special gratitude to the staff at Strong Memorial Hospital for the outstanding care they provided right up to the end. Services on Sunday March 11th at 11:00 am, at Lind Funeral Home at 805 W. 3rd Street, Jamestown, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health".
