Obituary of Clara M. Behrje

Clara Scarry Behrje, 96, formerly of 8 Crane Street, Jamestown, and Pompano Beach, FL, died Friday March 23, 2018, in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing. A native of Jamestown, she was born May 22, 1921, the daughter of the late Samuel and Jesse Tabone Mistretta. She was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School. She had been employed by Bank of America in Pompano Beach and by Bigelow's Department Store in Jamestown. She was a longtime communicant of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She loved her family and her life in Florida. Surviving is a daughter Diane (Rick) Couchenour of Jamestown; three grandchildren Dawn Strother of Lakewood, Debi (John) Herbstsomer of Mt. Airy, MD and Richard Couchenour of Rock Hill, SC and five great grandchildren Olivia, Abby, Nicklaus, Jacob and Kennon. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Behrje; a daughter Debbie Scarry; a sister Mary Jane Garifi and a brother Marion Mistretta. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed.
