Paul and I felt privileged to have met and heard the Taylors speak several times. They have contributed so much to our community as these condolences describe. We recall seeing them last when there was a cultural festival at our ice arena, where they brought a portable Underground Railroad display in a rolling suitcase. (before there was a permanent display at the Fenton Musem) We know they went on to do more great things together. Our deepest sympathy to Vivian and family.
Peace,
Linda Demler

Vivian, Michael & Family,
What a special woman. Jamestown was really gifted when the Taylor family arrived to our community. I remember the talks on the Underground Railroad that you gave at Washington School and elsewhere. I remember the many ways the Taylor presence was so beneficial via the many activities and services you were all involved in this community. You made this a better place. I will have many memories, and many others will also of Mrs. Taylor. She was so full of grace and charm. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Vivian,
Just wanted to add my condolences, and my thanks to both you and Lulu for being such wonderful role models for our community over the years.
Every time we met, I came away feeling that I was in the presence of "warmth" and generosity.

When Lula and Vivian received the John D. Hamilton Community Service Award the tribute ended with the phrase that "they are to be commended every day for the service they have given to the Chautauqua Region."
If a book about the Taylors is not yet in the making it ought to be. There are few people who have served in local, state or federal elected offices who have accomplished as much for people as they have.
Vivian, I know this tribute is for Lula but you know you two were a team and as someone wrote: her services and yours were vast and inspiring. Amen to that.
I know you, your entire family and your church share your loss, but so has Jamestown and Chautauqua County.

Mrs. Taylor was an extraordinary woman that I had the privilege of knowing my entire life. Mr. & Mrs. Taylor were dear friends of my grandparents. I grew up having great respect for both of them. Mrs. Taylor will continue being an amazing woman in Heaven. May you Rest in Peace in God's Loving Arms. I ask God to look over Mr. Taylor as he has lost his best friend.

We first met LuLu and Vivian thru an interracial/church group many years ago. LuLu was forever the gracious, smiling person you see in her photo. Tom and Vivian share a love of listening to music. Our condolences to the entire family.

Our family would like to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Mrs. Lula Taylor. She was an icon in the Jamestown community but we knew her as a family friend. She and Mr. Taylor were a part of our growing-up years as members of Blackwell Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church. In later years they were neighbors when our mother Katherine Thomes moved to Eighteenth Street. Whenever we would visit our mother they would always come over to visit. If our mother would need assistance they were there for her and for that we will always be grateful. She will be missed. Our sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. Taylor, LaVon, Myron, Michael and her extended family. With fondest memories of her and in sympathy we remain respectfully Marcia Thomes, Judith (Judy Thomes) Hunt, Melanie (Thomes) Holt & Alan Thomes
