Obituary of Joann N. Seiberg

Joann N. Seiberg, 85, of Hultquist Place, formerly 120 Aldren Ave., passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning (March 31, 2018) at UPMC Hamot in Erie. She was the widow of C. Richard Seiberg whom she married June 18, 1955 in Bethel Lutheran Church and who died December 4, 2016 after 61 years of marriage. Joann was born May 8, 1932 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Oscar and Gertrude Johnson Nelson, and was a 1950 graduate of Jamestown High School. She had been a travel agent at AAA of Jamestown and earlier, employed by the former First National Bank and for 15 years as a teacher's aide for special needs students. Joann had been a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and for the past 16 years belonged to Hillcrest Baptist Church. Joann was a member of the Mozart Club, Vikings and Norden Women's Club. She also enjoyed her many friends in the Book Club and the Coffee Bunch. Surviving is a daughter, Paula Morningstar of Lakewood, NY and son, Dale (Susan) Seiberg of Hudson, NH; and two grandchildren, Casey Morningstar of Sugar Grove, PA and Kira (and Andrew) Morningstar Nordquist of Lee's Summit, MO, who are expecting Joann's first great-grandchild. She is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Adam Ohlin, Laura George and Justin Ohlin; and eight step great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Dick, Joann was preceded in death by a son, Craig N. Seiberg in 1990. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark J. Hinman will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home.
