Obituary of Sally L. Swartz

Sally L. Swartz, 84, of 230 Schuyler St. Jamestown, NY, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018, in the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House, Warren, PA. A lifelong Jamestown area resident, she was born January 12, 1934 in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Harry and Helen Elizabeth Nelson Laws. Sally was a 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School and in later years graduated from Jamestown Community College in 1979 and earned her bachelor's degree from Empire State College in 1983. Before her retirement she was employed in the traffic department for the former Alltel, Inc. for 36 years. She was a member of the Zion Covenant Church, the Marvin Community House, the Vikings Lodge, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Allen Park Women's Club and the Westside Women's Club. She enjoyed getting together with the retired telephone company girls for their monthly lunches and also enjoyed playing cards and crocheting with her friends. She will be remembered as a kind, caring, loving and a very giving person who was always doing something for someone else, always thinking of others before herself. Surviving are her son; Scott D. (Diane) Swartz of Warren, PA, two grandchildren; Elissa S. (Nicholas Davies) Swartz and Kurtis A. (Margaret Watson) Swartz both of Warren, PA, a brother; William (Cathy) Loucks of Bryson City, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews. Sally's family would like to thank her many friends for making her life richer and for being just like family to her. She was preceded in death by her father Harry Laws, her mother, Helen E. Nelson Loucks, and a grandson, Scott Swartz. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
