Obituary of Tracey S. Martin
Tracey S. Martin, 59, of 1805 Maple Rd., Buffalo, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Buffalo General Hospital.
He was born in Jamestown July 25, 1958, a son of Carl Martin and the late Marie Swart Martin.
A 1976 graduate of Panama Central School, Tracey had studied at L'Academie de la Cuisine in Washington, D.C., Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France, La Cuisine Francaise in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY. A chef with over 30 years culinary, hospitality, HR and catering experience, he had served as Executive Sous Chef for Catering at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., was travel chef in the Clinton White House, and worked in private service for Mrs. Robert Kennedy and other members of the Kennedy Family. He had co-owned the culinary staffing agency, Wolff, Martin & Associates, and owned and operated A Moveable Feast Catering Co. in Chautauqua County. During his career, he cooked for numerous heads of state, including Jacques Chirac, Yitzhak Shamir, Margaret Thatcher, Helmut Kohl, President & Mrs. H.W. Bush, Mrs. Ronald Reagan, Deng Xiaoping, Yitzhak Rabin and Boris Yeltsin.
In addition to his father, Carl, surviving are three brothers: Troy (Susan) Martin of Corning, NY, Brad (Denise) Martin of Lakewood, NY and Mako (Suki) Shimada of Osaka, Japan; five nephews; and his beloved pet dog, Margaret.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie, who died May 30, 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21st in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate. Inurnment will be in Open Meadows Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, for two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The Arts Council in Buffalo and Erie County.
